Planning and Strategy

The news of being diagnosed with leukemia or lymphoma can have an unthinkable impact on a person and their loved ones. Shock, disbelief and denial are some of the overwhelming feelings that may be experienced from hearing the news.

When the diagnosis is confirmed, the reality brings with it disappointment and fear of the unknown and more questions. Patients and caregivers may ask themselves:

While these are all legitimate questions, the internal repetition creates more fear and anxiety. In order to prevent these real emotions from taking a toll on our psychological well being, we need to transition our thought process.

It is important to realize that God is in control and he is the source of our strength.

Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways acknowledge him and he will direct your paths. Proverbs 3, 5-6

One of the keys to staying mentally strong is to deal with the facts. An excellent resource to learn more about the different types of leukemia and lymphoma can be found at www.leukemia-lymphoma.org (See disease information).

Don't let the information intimidate you, use it as a way to educate yourself and communicate with your doctors.

Our Goal

Our Goal in the Planning Section is to help you identify the things that you can control so that you can minimize the worry and distractions and spend more of your time focusing on matters of the heart, mind and soul.
